All relationships have ups and downs. Times where we feel close and connected and other times where we feel distant and remote. Times where every movement of our partner enthralls us and other times where we are irrated by any little thing.
How do we get out of those negative times? Is it the grand gestures or the small actions that make a difference?
Should we spend lavishly on the trip to Paris they have always wanted or is there a better way?
I would suggest that while grand gestures are lovely, they can be a hollow gesture if they are not backed by small actions. What do I mean by the small actions?
Small actions such as taking a moment to thank or compliment our partner.
Small actions such as asking an open ended question and actually listening to the answer.
Small actions as spending some quality time with each other.
Small actions such as giving each other a hug or holding hands.
Small actions such as communicating need rather than expecting your partner to have telepathy.
These small actions build up into a BIG connection with each other. They build connection and help us to really feel loved and appreaciated.
I’m not saying don’t do the grand gesture but you will find it only build’s connection if you have taken time to do these daily small actions.
